Slack

With Slack connected, everyone can get their WORK³ notifications in Slack, create items with /task, and see a preview when a WORK³ link is shared.

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations → Slack and click Connect Slack. You need the Connect integrations and rules permission.
  2. Slack asks you to allow WORK³ in your Slack workspace. Click Allow.

WORK³ asks Slack for as little as possible: to send direct messages, the /task command, and to see WORK³ links so it can add previews. It cannot read your channels or messages.

Each person links their own Slack account, so WORK³ knows who is who:

  1. Go to Settings → Profile & appearance → Notifications and click Link Slack account, or click Link my Slack account on the Slack page.
  2. Sign in with Slack.

Then choose in the Slack column which notifications should also come as a direct message. See Notifications.

Type /task followed by a project key and what needs doing:

/task WEB Update the price list

The item is created in that project in your name, with your permissions, and you get a link to it. If the workspace has a single project you can leave out the key. Typing /task alone lists the projects.

When someone shares a link to a WORK³ item or project in Slack, WORK³ adds a preview with its status, assignee and due date. Previews are only shown for people who have linked their account, and only for what they can already see in WORK³.

An admin chooses how much a preview shows under Link previews on the Slack page:

  • Title, status, assignee and due date (the default)
  • Title only
  • Off: no previews at all

Previews are never shown in Slack Connect channels, which are shared with other organisations, whatever the setting.

Disconnect on the Slack page stops everything at once and removes everyone’s links. WORK³ also revokes its access in Slack, which removes the WORK³ app from your Slack workspace. If someone removes the WORK³ app in Slack, the Slack page shows Needs attention until you connect again.
