Google Drive
Google Drive is a personal integration: everyone who can edit can pick files and folders in Google Drive and attach them to items and projects. The file stays in Drive: WORK³ shows it with the attachments and opens it in Drive when you click it.
Turn it on
Section titled “Turn it on”There is nothing to connect for the workspace. Each person signs in to Google when they pick files. By default everyone but guests may use it. People with the Connect integrations and rules permission choose who may under Settings → Integrations → Rules → Google Drive (off, chosen roles or everyone); see Who sees which settings. Turning it off applies at once: files already attached stay as links, but nobody can add new ones.
Attach a file from Drive
Section titled “Attach a file from Drive”- On an item, click Attach or the drop area under Attachments. On a project, open the Files tab and click Upload.
- Click Choose from Google Drive.
- Google shows its account chooser. Pick any of your Google accounts (it does not have to be the one you sign in to WORK³ with), and the first time, let WORK³ see the files you pick by clicking Continue. The choice holds for about an hour in that tab.
- Pick one or more files or folders (up to 20 at a time) in My Drive or Shared drives, and click Select.
The files show among the attachments with Drive’s mark and their type (DOC, SHEET, SLIDE, PDF, DIR for folders). Click one to open it in Drive in a new tab. Right-click for Open in Google Drive, Copy link and Remove from WORK³. Removing only takes the link away here; the file stays in Drive.
A project’s Files tab shows the Drive files of the project and its items. Filter on Google Drive to see only them.
Who can open the file
Section titled “Who can open the file”Drive decides. WORK³ links to the file but does not change who it is shared with. A colleague who has no access in Drive sees Google’s Request access page. Share the file or folder in Drive with the people in the project if they should open it.
What WORK³ can see
Section titled “What WORK³ can see”- Google Drive’s narrowest permission (drive.file): only the files you pick, never the rest of your Drive.
- WORK³ keeps the file’s name, type and link. It never downloads or stores the file’s content.
- Your Google sign-in lasts about an hour and stays in your browser. WORK³’s servers never get it, so nothing runs in your Drive when you are not picking files.
- While you may use Google Drive, the Upload files dialog loads Google’s sign-in and picker scripts from Google, so Google sees that the dialog was opened from WORK³.
- A renamed file keeps its old name in WORK³ until you attach it again.
Connect and disconnect your Google account
Section titled “Connect and disconnect your Google account”Under Settings → My integrations → Google Drive, click Connect Google Drive to choose a Google account ahead of time; picking files the first time connects you too. The page then shows Connected. WORK³ only remembers that you connected, never your Google sign-in, so if you remove WORK³ directly in your Google account the page still says Connected until you disconnect here.
To take away WORK³’s access to your own Google account, go to Settings → My integrations → Google Drive and click Disconnect my Google account. Google asks which account if you have several. You can also remove WORK³ under Third-party apps & services in your Google account.
